Healthy is Hard Sometimes!

Here I am 8 months pregnant and finding that being healthy is hard!  For the last month, I have struggled with pain and discomfort and well as most moms know...the "I'm so done" feeling.  While I know this last month should be one of the most important for nutrition, not feeling good sometimes puts you out of routine.  Out of routine with cooking, meal times, and even grocery shopping.  While making sure the family is eating healthy, we all tend to forget about ourselves.  Every Mom puts their family first and tends to put herself last, but what happens when we are sick or under the weather...the entire world seems to crash!  Right?  The world around us has problems operating with the simplest daily task, all because Mom is sick!

In all the books we read before becoming a Mom, the one thing no one mentions is to take care of yourself first or the world around you could collapse!  Did anyone read that in your first books or did anyone have a friend or family member say to you, "Remember to take care of yourself first!"...I don't know about you but no one told me that.  Taking care of yourself first is not about putting your family last, it's not about getting your nails or hair done, it's about your health!  Yes, your health!  NUTRITION AND EXERCISE  is how you take care of yourself first!

Whether you work out or not, good nutrition can keep your body functioning in ways you don't even think about.  Are you tired? Easily irritated? Completely out of energy?  Stressed out? Thinking you may need to see the doctor because you could be getting sick?  These are all things that nutrition plays a huge role in.  Oh and did you know that taking vitamins is not the answer?  If you are taking vitamins and thinking you are healthy, you're not!  Sad, but true.

So let's fix your health without a crazy work out routine or hiring a trainer.  Start first with fruits and vegetables!  What?! Am I crazy?  Is the answer truly that simple?  The answer is YES!  How many fruits and vegetables do you eat daily?  I know the answer to how many I have been eating daily and in the last month...that is, some days there were none!  As someone who works in children and family health, who knows all the benefits of consuming fresh fruits and vegetables...it's still hard to consume anything healthy when you are not feeling 100%.  However, there comes a point where you have to say, ok that's it, enough is enough!  If I'm going to feel any better, I have to do something.  That something begins with a walk to the kitchen and taking a bite of fruit for a snack, then planning a vegetable for dinner!  Yes, it's that simple.  After you do that, take a look at my website on how to supplement your fruits and vegetable servings to increase your health, because after all, you are Super Mom and you can't always eat enough servings of fruits and vegetables on the go like you are.  Try it, try to take care of YOU and eat your fruits and veggies to keep yourself healthy first!  You just might find out that your new natural energy is a relief from how you felt before!
